Of that sum, 35,000 are attributed to merchandise/album bundles sold by way of the singe’s official webstore. Also of note is the 19 million streams which translate to 14,000 units.

This really serves as one of those scenarios where both “hey, it could have been worse” and “yikes” are both applicable.
Because, no matter how it’s sliced or diced, the commercial drop from the 180k debut of 2017’s ‘Witness’ (which itself was an under-performer) is impossible to ignore.
But, at the same time, a top 5 debut from a seasoned artist whose schtick doesn’t fit in to the current climate as domineeringly as it did in times of past could almost be seen as a small…win. Almost.

I think Katy should have waited to put the album out and aligned the release with the inevitable “look how fast I bounced back from having a baby” media storm that her team is probably already working on. She could have marketed her first live performance since having a baby to help push the album and even had a “Decade of Katy” night on American Idol so that the conversation is all about her.

I saw this coming for Katy. Lets start with that album cover, not a good look. She should have done a surprise release or released the album when NRO was popular. Wrong single choices, there are only a few good songs on the album. The public loses interest and moves on quickly to the next hot song. I thought Witness was bad, but the album was able to hit number 1 and sold 180k first week. Hopefully she will rethink, re-brand, write better music and work with better producers.
Whichever way this is chopped and sliced, its not good at all. I don’t think the album is any worse than Witness. The concept was a bit dated, perhaps Teary Eyed or Resilient would have been a better name for the album. Daisies should have followed straight after NRO and it should have been released then. Small Talk and HARLEYS we’ll pretend never happened.
Everyone is so cruel to her though. She should take sometime out and come back in 2 years with her next album. She needs to refind the soul and essence of her music which was missing from witness and this album
Kesha, aka GASHa, ruined Katy’s career by LYING about Dr. Luke attacking her. Katy was fearful of the backlash and stopped working with him. Bye hits.
